More than 10 million international passengers fly in and out of Pakistani airports each year. Another 8 million people fly on domestic routes. With 18 million airline passengers every year, it is no wonder that international airlines such as Emirates, Saudi Airlines, Etihad Airways, Gulf Air, Turkish Airlines and Thai Airways are competing for traffic. Local carriers - PIA, Airblue and Shaheen Air – compete for the 8 million domestic passengers and also account for 25-30% of international traffic. New airlines are being established within the country and budget airlines from the Gulf like flydubai and airarabia are also picking up passengers from Pakistan where year on year airline traffic is growing at a robust rate.
More than 7,000 travel trade professionals are expected to visit the show. Another 25,000 invited travelers will visit the event to seek information about new destinations, hotels and airline offers and special travel packages. ChuttiShow promises to become the most important meeting place for both the travel trade sector and consumers looking for inspiration for their next vacation.
While international tourist arrival into Pakistan is hampered by concerns of safety and security, domestic tourism is on the rise. Moenjodaro in Sindh remains a destination for lovers of antiquities while the adventurous watch the Shandur Polo matches in the picturesque northern areas of Pakistan. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan with five dominating peaks over 8,000 meters including K2 - the second highest mountain in the world - are major tourist attractions.
About 200,000 Pakistanis perform the Hajj every year under the government regulated Hajj scheme. Another 250,000 to 300,000 people go to Saudi Arabia each year for Umrah. More than 200 travel agents in Pakistan have been authorized by the Saudi Government’s Ministry of Hajj to coordinate religious tourism.
More than 2,000 people fly in and out of Pakistan in Business or First Class every single day. 1.8m people in Pakistan have an annual household income of over $42,000. More than 200,000 Pakistanis have an average annual household income of over $120,000. They travel both for leisure and business. They stay at the finest hotels and visit multiple destinations every year.
